On the 18th of June, the school held its first Sports Day in three years, the first since the school moved to a new building. Although the events were chosen with the risk of coronavirus infection in mind, with the great cooperation of teachers and parents, as well as the weather on our side, it turned out to be wonderful.
The day began with an allegiance pledge by the leaders of the teams, followed by preparatory Radio Taisou. Then all the children and students from the infant to junior high schools, who were divided into a red and a white team, took part in a total of seven events, including Daruma-san ga Koronda, an obstacle race, a water carrying race and relays. After a short break, the red and white groups gave great performances under the command of their team leaders. Even the students who were shy at the beginning leaned forward to cheer their teammates loudly by the time of the final relay.
The event ended with a victory for the red team but seeing the children’s smiling faces, we all felt joy from the resumption of face-to-face classes once again.
