R.Y’s Testimonial

I was a student at Yorkshire Humberside Japanese School from the third grade of primary school to the third grade of junior high school.

After graduating from high school in the UK, I went on to study at a Japanese university in the Manga department with the aim of becoming an animator.
After graduating from university, I went to work for a Japanese animation company and worked as an animator in Tokyo. As I attended a local school in the UK, I would not have had the opportunity to study Japanese, including kanji, had I not attended a supplementary school, so I feel strongly that the six years I spent at the supplementary school were a time that influenced my future.
I was also able to meet like-minded friends at YHJS whom I will continue to see after graduation.
After graduating from YHJS, my younger brother, who was five years younger than me, attended the school and I was able to volunteer in the nursery class, which I think was a fun and valuable experience.
To this day, I still have the cards I received from the children in the nursery class.
All the teachers who taught me were kind and there were many events such as sports days and bazaars, and I am grateful to the teachers and parents for making me happy to attend YHJS.
